When the testing happens and everyone has been what will golf do if some of there top players test postive i mean that will hurt golf TREMENDOUSLY!!!! If that were to happen then will we ever hear about probly not... Because say it was Tiger or Phil or Vijay or say someone else in the top 20 that would serioulsy hurt the PGA Tour so if it were someone big would we hear about it and would they punish that person probly not but idk...I think that person would be punishet with no one ever nowing and he will keep playing golf without anyone ever nowing that the tested positive....It could happen but idk...

So, What will Happen to golf if it is a big name golfer testing postive???

I don't think there will be a lot of positive tests.   Steroids would work against many golfers because of muscle mass and bulk not helping the players.  It would take away flexibility.

Mark,

That's BS and a very backward way of thinking which was popular back in the 70's.

Oh I forgot, WV IS 30 years behind the times!  I'm from PA originally so that is a very well known "rip".  Same as Ohioans and WVians are the same except the Ohioans can swim better.  So don't take it personally.  I'm sure that is not the first time you heard that!  Trailer, tornado, and divorce jokes too.

Every college golf program has a huge weight training regiment for their team members, in and out of the two golf seasons.

There is nothing wrong with weight training if coupled with cardio and flexibility routines.  Just ask Tiger!!!

If any one of the top players gets nabbed...trust me it won't be covered up.  There will be a lifetime ban and it won't matter if it's Tiger himself.

Plain truth is that none of the players will get nabbed, (Well, there may be a few really stupid ones out there. The PGA Tour is a cross section of society and there are plenty of stupid people out there in general.), because the warning system and the compounds the governing bodies will be testing for, are not inclusive.

There is also the doctor alibi.  You can't ban a member who is getting legitimate prescription drugs from a legitimate and approved physician for a legitimate injury or physical condition.  Even my work protects those rights for our drug tests.  People with asthma take steroids.  They may not be the enhancement type but they are non-the-less steroids capable of being detected.

The USGA, PGA and R&A are simply going through the motions to provide legitimacy to their sport and to have reliable deniability.

ImNo1Now,

I read some materials and find that you are probably correct.  Some of my idea had merit from the old way of looking at things.

"Dr. Jim Suttie, former PGA Teacher of the Year, gives a qualified endorsement of that view: "There's no doubt steroids build muscle and increase strength," says Suttie, who holds a Ph.D. in biomechanics. "Bigger muscles mean more explosive core strength, more explosive hip strength, more arm strength." Suttie believes players taking steroids would be able to hit the ball longer -- provided they didn't get too bulky and lose flexibility."

I guess some others share my thoughts about the bulky and loss of flexibility thought.  But I do have an old idea about the impact of steroids.  From reading other articles I think that there seems to be some compelling evidence that with proper weight training, steroids would be able to help muscle development.  Another article I read felt that the mental impact of steroids would not be helpful for golfers, due to a loss of ability to control some emotions.

As far as the WV insults, yeah, I've heard most of them, and guess what, I'm from PA as well, and have come to love the state of West Virginia over the years.

Thanks for the clarification on the steroids, although I still don't believe they will help golfers overall.
